Our story
29 years of continuous industrial progress
Since its foundation in 1997, EMAPHOS has grown from a greenfield project into one of the world's leading producers of purified phosphoric acid — a journey spanning 29 years and defined by technical ambition, operational rigour, and the sustained commitment of three global industrial partners.
Each chapter of this journey — from EMP1's first run in 1998, through the doubling of capacity with EMP2 in 2022, to our current leadership in purified phosphoric acid — has brought new certifications, expanded markets, and deeper integration with the global food and pharmaceutical supply chains that depend on the purity and reliability of our product.
29 Years of Historical Milestones
JV Establishment
Euro Maroc Phosphore (EMAPHOS) is incorporated as a joint venture between OCP Group (Morocco), Prayon S.A. (Belgium), and Chemische Fabrik Budenheim (Germany) — each holding an equal ~33.3% stake. EMAPHOS becomes OCP's first international JV in chemical processing.

In 2026, EMAPHOS marks 29 years of uninterrupted production at Jorf Lasfar — a testament to the strength of our tri-party partnership model and the dedication of our teams. Across nearly three decades, and with both EMP1 and EMP2 now fully operational, we have shipped millions of tonnes of purified phosphoric acid to customers whose products touch billions of lives.
